Solo week-long tour of Wales promotes green shoots

Some of Wales’ leading names – including the DVLA, Admiral Insurance, universities and local authorities – are playing host to a one man effort to travel across the Principality in one week to banish recession blues and inspire people to become green shoots for an economic upturn.

World-leading creativity expert Andy Green will be doing a one week-long tour of Wales at the end of June (June 29th to July 3rd) where he will be giving inspirational talks to help people be more resourceful, spot opportunities, and harness what he calls ‘Golden Swan’ opportunities in the recession.

The tour, called ‘The Upturn: your part in its rise’ is supported by leading social enterprise organization Unltd, and also features events with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

Andy, who recently moved to Barry Island, is a successful writer and lectures around the world.  In his new book ‘The Upturn: my part in its rise’, due out this summer, he highlights how each of us is a potential green shoot for recovery, in what he calls ‘the age of disruption’.
He will be squeezing his 18 stone frame into a two-seater car, dubbed ‘The world’s smallest conference centre’ to travel between venues.

Andy is giving his time for free as part of his work for the Flexible Thinking Forum, a new social enterprise aimed at promoting better creative thinking to help businesses and communities tackle their problems more effectively.
Through his 30 minute entertaining and practical talks he promises to provide people with new ideas and strategies of what they can do differently to be more resourceful and successful in the current economic climate.
He explains how you need to act differently by thinking flexibly, and thinking flexibly faster to make you more resourceful for surviving – or even taking advantage of what Andy calls ‘Golden Swan’ opportunities.
“We are all potential green shoots in a recovery.” said Andy Green. “Many of us however, need to think and act differently. The tough don’t just need to get going. They need to get going faster. By being more resourceful and flexible we can seize whatever positive opportunities there may be out there for us.”
